The automotive industry is evolving, and Jeep is not planning on missing the electric revolution! After presenting exceptional 4xe plug-in hybrid models, the time has come to introduce the very first 100% electric SUV built purely for off-road adventures: the 2026 Jeep Recon BEV. Slated for late 2025, it will surely impress with a modern design and remarkable capabilities. Duclos Valleyfield Chrysler has all the details.
For the time being, Stellantis is keeping the Recon cloaked in mystery. In fact, the 2026 Recon has not yet been officially revealed; a presentation page on the official Jeep Canada website, along with a few sneak peek photos and details, has us eagerly waiting.
It is still too early to outline all the major features, including design elements and performance details. We will also have to wait a bit longer to learn the official technical specifications and pricing.
Although Stellantis remains secretive for now, the few images of the Recon that have leaked do reveal a great deal. It immediately makes a bold statement: an SUV with both a rugged and modern design, embodying a truly adventurous spirit.
Even though we are dealing with an electric vehicle, Jeep has retained the iconic seven-slot radiator grille (a signature element of the brand), which is now illuminated to add a contemporary touch.
Inspiration is clearly drawn from an iconic off-road favourite, the Jeep Wrangler. It features similar dimensions along with several other features:
That's not all. The initial pictures also reveal the return of another feature that made the Wrangler so popular: removable door panels, which allow you to enjoy an immersive outdoor experience.
Moreover, the quiet hum of the electric motor allows you to take in the sounds of surrounding nature; a wonderful way to rediscover off-the-beaten-path adventures without a single drop of fuel.
The manufacturer has yet to reveal the full technical specifications for the 2026 Jeep Recon BEV. However, some data already allows us to make a few educated guesses.
Firstly, we do know that the new electric SUV will be built on the same platform as the Jeep Wagoneer S ‒ the modular STLA Large platform ‒ which supports either a 400-volt or 800-volt electric architecture. The Recon may even share the 100.5 kWh battery found on the Wagoneer.
As an example, this electric powertrain produces 600 horsepower and 617 lb-ft of torque! It is estimated that the base model of the Recon will offer roughly 500 horsepower, while a higher trim could achieve up to 600 horsepower. In any event, you will have access to plenty of power!
The visible tow hooks also hint at the fact that hauling your favourite gear will be a breeze.
The Recon is, above all, a true Jeep. This is evident not only in terms of design but also in terms of performance. You can expect to see hallmark features like standard four-wheel drive and the Selec-Terrain system, which adapts driving dynamics to various driving conditions. An electronically locking differential and protective skid plates will also be included.
A specialized Moab trim featuring dedicated off-road packages will be available and will proudly wear the "Trail Rated" emblem, attesting to its superior capabilities. In short, this 100% electric SUV will have nothing to envy from its gasoline rivals!
The range for the Recon has not yet been announced. However, one might expect around 488 km (similar to the Wagoneer S) or more. Charging could be accomplished in a few hours with Level 2 equipment, or in under 30 minutes with a fast-charging station. These figures will be confirmed later.
Are you intrigued by the model but unsure about switching to 100% electric driving? Stay tuned: a hybrid trim might also be offered soon. Antonio Filosa, CEO of Stellantis, intends to offer drivers the freedom to choose, a philosophy that is already evident in the current lineup. To be continued!
Among the images that have been unveiled by Jeep, one provides a glimpse into the interior. Several noteworthy elements stand out:
The cabin is designed for those who love the outdoors but who also want high levels of comfort. The manufacturer promises an interior that is both refined and practical, featuring configurable cargo space.
The images showcasing the expansive digital screens are impressive. You can expect the latest features and technologies offered by the brand, such as:
It will also be equipped with a comprehensive suite of driver assistance technologies designed to help prevent collisions.
In short, the pre-production model and the preliminary data already indicate one thing: the 2026 Jeep Recon BEV is a promising model for adventurers who also take the environment to heart!
